2014 Homecoming Dance
The Homecoming Dance will be held on October 11, 2014 from 8:00-11:00 pm.  Tickets will be on sale from Sept. 29-Oct. 3.  You must have a signed dance contract and guest form if bringing a non-Hylton guest in order to purchase tickets.  Tickets are $20 each and will not be sold at the door.  Click here for the dance contract and here for the guest permission form.

Do you have a convertible?
Hylton's Student Council is in need of convertibles for the Homecoming Parade.  The parade will be held on October 10th from 4-6 pm, and it will go down Lindendale Dr.  If you have access to a convertible, and are willing to drive it in our parade, please contact Ms. Hunter, SCA advisor, at huntersm@pwcs.edu.
Student Google Accounts are Ready!
Attention Students: If you would like to begin using your C.D. Hylton Google Apps account, click here to view a video that will show you how to login.  Once logged in, click here to view a video about using your account responsibly and effectively.  All students are expected to use these school Google Accounts responsibly and effectively.  You can login for the first time from school or from home.
Attention Juniors: Apply for Youth Salute!
The PWC Youth Salute Council is now accepting nominations of students who have displayed outstanding ability in leadership and academic achievement.  Nominees must be current members of the Junior class, have a cumulative 3.0 grade point average as of the end of their sophomore year and have held a leadership position in the last two years in a school, religious or community-sponsored organization.  Hylton may nominate 14 Juniors for the Youth Salute program.  Interested students who wish to apply should see Mrs. Covington in the Counseling office for further information and to obtain a nomination packet.  The deadline for returning the completed packet is no later than Friday, October 24th.
Senior Picture Retakes
Attention Seniors: Senior picture make-ups are scheduled for October 8th, 9th, and 10th in the Hylton Auditorium. If you have not taken your picture and did not receive a letter with a new time and date in the mail, please stop by room E134 immediately to schedule a time.
Save the Date: Fall Touch Base
On Monday, October 13th, Hylton HS will be hosting its Fall Touch Base event.  During Touch Base, parents can attend mini-conferences with their children's teachers to check on their progress.  Check back for more information as the date approaches. 
PSAT Information for Parents & Students
Parents of Sophomores and Juniors: The National PSAT test will be given here at Hylton on Wednesday, October 15th. PWCS will be paying for each sophomore and junior to take the test. All sophomores and juniors were given practice test booklets in their English classes. The PSAT is an important first step towards college. We strongly suggest students review the booklet to prepare for the reading and math sections of the test.  Click here to view a copy of the Official Student Guide to the PSAT.
Hylton nominates two outstanding educators for Teacher of the Year awards!
Congratulations, Mr. Jason Fox and Mr. Tommy Tutwiler, for being nominated for the Agnes Meyer Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award and the Dale City Teacher of the Year Award! If you would like to write a letter of support for one or both of these teachers, please email Mrs. Meg Holt at holtmh@pwcs.edu. We would love to hear from former students, current students, parents, colleagues and members of the community. For a list of criteria for both awards and for pictures, please click here. All letters of support are due by October 24.

Students: Request Appointments with School Counselors ONLINE!
Beginning this year, all Counseling Appointment Requests will be completed electronically. Students can submit a request to meet with his/her Counselor from any computer or mobile device, at home or at school, by clicking here.  Students can also submit a request using the kiosk set-up in the Counseling Center. The Online Appointment Requester is also available from the left navigation menu by selecting Counseling > Appointment Request.
High School Program Information Nights
Mark your calendars!  On Thursday, November 13th and Tuesday, January 13th, Hylton High School is hosting it's information night(s) for all students, parents and guardians interested in the different high school programs we will offer in 2015-16. These include the Center for International Studies and Languages, the TV Production program and the Auto Tech program. The event will begin at 7 p.m. Specific locations for the different programs will be listed as you enter the building. The county-wide on-line application process will be explained at both events.
